Tip # 1: Check for Interference
Interference from internal and external sources is one of the more common issues when it comes to Wi-Fi troubles. Also, people often overlook physical Wi-Fi barriers, such as filing cabinets, concrete or metal walls, and other dense obstructions that could be blocking signals. Place Wi-Fi access points where their signals are least likely to be blocked by metal barriers. In general, APs should be placed eight to nine feet above the ground.
Tip #2: Good Equipment
Your Wi-Fi network is only as good as the equipment you use. Make sure you are using proper cables, switches, access points, and antennas. Your switches should be able to provide enough power per connected AP, and CAT 6 Ethernet cables should be used for long runs. Also remember to keep your cable runs less 300 feet for Power over Ethernet (PoE) restrictions.
